An Adirondack experience
Hamilton County is situated in the heart of the Adirondacks, where you will be immersed in wilderness and stunning scenery. We are home to some of the first settlements in the Adirondacks and historic logging villages. Our natural resources, outdoor recreation, and breathtaking scenery have contributed to our unique history and attractions.
Here is the ideal location to take a quiet snowshoe hike to a historic fire tower and get a bird’s eye view from the summit of an Adirondack mountain peak, or stay in town to got ice skating or sledding at a quant town park. For those looking for a more adrenaline-inducing winter activity, downhill skiing and riding at Oak Mountain is the perfect fit, and provides some easier runs for those looking to take it easy or learn.
While an educational trip to the stunning Great Camp Sagamore isn't possible in the winter when they are closed (save for two dates!), you can still appreciate the historical architecture with a leisurely cross-country ski around the area.,
