info@experienceouradirondacks.com

The lake is reported to be around 45 feet deep, with plenty of features for bass fishing including small islands and shallows.

How to get there

From the intersection of Route 28N and Route 30 in Long Lake, follow Route 30 toward Tupper Lake. Continue through town and locate Kickerville Road on the right, about 0.6 miles past the bridge over Long Lake. Follow Kickerville Road to the stone building at the end. From here a dirt road passes to its right, this leads to the Cedarlands Boy Scout Camp. The road is marked as private but it is open to the public when the scouts are not in session. Drive down this dirt road for around 1-mile to the designated public parking on the left.

Mud Pond Hand Launch is located off Fishing Camp Trail, 0.75 mile from the Cedarlands Parking Area. This is a total of a 1.5 mile carry along dirt roads. You must paddle across Mud Pond to reach McRorie.

From the parking area return to the road and take a left onto the access road. Walk this for about 0.3 miles to a split in the road and three gates. Take a left and follow this forest road for the remaining 1.2 miles to the canoe carry on the right, just over the bridge for the outlet. Walk the canoe carry for a couple hundred feet to the boat access.

No motorboat access.

Fishing

McRorie Lake contains largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brown bullhead, rainbow trout, and sunfish. The lake can be accessed by paddling from Mud Pond up the lake's outlet and a 0.25-mile carry.

This remote pond pays off with fish-attractive features. The carry is on old dirt roads. The only decent shoreline fishing access is along the boat launch area. It is best fished from a boat.

Special Regulations

You can use the easement, lakes, and trails between August 23 and June 23 when the Boy Scouts are not in session, and remember this is private land so please respect it.
