Activities & Attractions

So much to see and do

In the Adirondacks, our biggest attraction of course is the Adirondacks – a vast, pristine playground of balsam forests, mountain peaks, and deep lakes offering unparalleled outdoor recreation, immersion in history, and activities that will make your getaway unforgettable! From historic Great Camps and live music to arts and parks, there's a lot to do in our big outdoors and small towns.

Adirondack Great Camps

Here, in the heart of the central Adirondacks, where wilderness is the main attraction, we love to share our unique history. Historic Great Camps along the shores of Raquette Lake, itself a beauty, are best viewed from the water in the summer. Another one of the region's unique Adirondack attractions is Great Camp Sagamore, the Adirondack retreat of one of the wealthiest men in early 20th America, now a National Historic Landmark. Sagamore offers overnight accommodations in storied Adirondack Great Camp luxury. Tours of the buildings and grounds, as well as special events are open to the general public throughout the year.

Arts and Culture

Proud of our history, we have historic sites and museums — big and small — all over the county. Exploring our scenic historic towns and hamlets is a perfect way to discover the work of talented artisans and craftspeople, creators of distinctly Adirondack-inspired paintings, photographs, furniture, and more. Our shops, studios, and galleries are full of beautiful treasures ready to draw you in to this area of inspiration and activity.

Ticket to ride

Looking for a tour where you can sit back, relax, and let someone take the reins, or tips for a sweet scenic drive? To help get as much activity in as possible, tours and excursions with local guides and adventurers are an extra fun way to experience the amazing Adirondack scenery. In the water or in the air, tours and excursions here are extra unique and distinctly Adirondack!

Year-round fun

Just because some attractions are closed in the winter, it doesn't mean the fun has to stop! Many businesses and organizations are now offering special virtual programming all year round! Check out our events page to find unique talks, workshops, and tours!
