If you're looking for fall foliage you'll find it in the central Adirondacks, but did you know there's more than one way to see nature's most vibrant display of the year? Check out this list of our nine favorites.
1. Take a cruise in Raquette Lake

Leaf-peep in style while cruising the majestic Raquette Lake aboard the W.W. Durant. Take a scenic cruise, or opt for dinner with a view!
2. Great Camp Sagamore in Raquette Lake

Hike to Great Camp Sagamore, built in 1897, and enjoy some history while taking in the fall foliage on Sagamore Lake. Spend the day exploring the grounds, or book a room and spend the night!
3. Arrowhead Park in Inlet

Located on beautiful Fourth Lake, Arrowhead Park is an accessible oasis of beauty and fun that includes spectacular sunsets, swimming, tennis, baseball, picnics, and art — all with a breathtaking lakeside view!
4. Seaplane Rides in Long Lake and Inlet

Let our experienced pilots do the driving for you! Take a 20-minute ride that covers about 25 miles of Adirondack beauty and get a bird's-eye view of fall at its best.
5. Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake

Walk the historic trail to Minnow Pond, then explore the museum's large campus to step into a bygone era that shaped today's Adirondacks.
6. Whitewater Rafting in Indian Lake

Choose from two companies — Adventure Sports Rafting or Adirondac Rafting Company — and charge down the Hudson River Gorge on an adventure that's suited for ages 8 to 80!
7. Oak Mountain Chairlift Rides in Speculator

Buy the ticket, take the ride! This year the chair lift rides will be running only two days in the fall season, Sep. 2 for Oaktoberfest and Sep. 30, so make sure you plan ahead. A lift ticket gets you to the top of the 2,400-foot Oak Mountain. Visit during Oaktoberfest Weekend to see the sights from up high. Oak Mountain also has a disc golf course that is fun and filled with foliage. Yet another way to take in the color.
8. Fire tower hikes

Going up? There are five mountaintop fire towers in the region to choose from, so lace up your boots and take to the trails. Better yet, download our fire tower challenge guide and see them all.
9. Waterfall hikes

From short walks to thundering cascades, to day hikes to perfect plunges, we have enough waterfalls to keep you busy. Up for a challenge? Take our waterfall challenge and visit them all!
A day spent leaf-peeping is great, but why not spend several days relishing the bright colors? Book a stay, dine in style, and fall in love with the Adirondacks!
